Hello, guys! I'm Vanya, obviously a new member of this forum. I'm a programmer & romhacker. I've been lurking for a few days and I must say that the talent I have seen is very impressive. And that brings me to my proposal...

I'm currently working on a hack of Mega Man 5. Titled "Mega Man Powered Down" it aims ti recreate many of the features of the PSP version of Mega Man 1. One of the objectives for the project is to port and/or remix the music from MM1(NES) & MMPU(PSP). This is where I need to partner up with one or more of you guys. You see the problem is I'm completely, 100% inept when it comes to music. I can't even fathom remixing a song or down-sampling a PSP track to an NES track.

So if anyone is interested in helping out with this project please feel free to post here or contact me via e-mail. Thanks! ^_^

Sounds interesting. I don't really understand how we're supposed to remix the music from MM1 though, it's already on the NES... Where can we find the PSP version's soundtrack?

EDIT: Wtf, Cutman's song is in major now? Ew.

For the most part I was thinking of enhancing the MM1 songs in the same vein as the MMPU versions.

The full soundtracks of pretty much every Megaman game were available at "The Megaman Network", but the site has been down for a few days now.
I snagged the MMPU OST before the site went down, so I can provide those for this project. ^_^

Cutman in major: Yeah, a lot of the songs sound off in the MMPU versions. That's why I'd like to keep the originals and just 'enhance' them instead. The interesting part will be adapting some of the songs that weren't present in MM1.

How would you suggest enhancing the music of the original game, if it's to be used in a romhack of MM5? As far as I know, it doesn't allow for any more advanced music than MM1 does. That said, the arrangements could still be changed into something different, but it'd be very difficult to improve on and enhance the originals using the same technology, I think.

I don't know. Like I said, I'm inept at this sort of thing. ^_^

Even if the remixes are just reminiscent of the MMPU arrangements that would be enough, I think, to make this hack great.

I'm pretty sure that there is more space allocated for the songs in MM5, so the remixes could at least be longer than the originals.

Does that help? ^_^

*please excuse the major bump*
I never did figure out the vrc hack.
I've since abandoned the hack all together.
I'm starting over in the form of a GameMaker fan game, though.

I still need help with the music, but now I just need ftm versions of the music from MM1 & some covers from Megaman Powered Up.

If anyone is interested in helping me out you can see my progress over here:

At this point I'll even take famitracker friendly midis of the said music to convert myself if I have to.
