Yeah, FT gives users a lot more flexibility in that regard, and lets you deal with where to put your waves within the chip's RAM. Each step in a waveform occupies a slot in the set of 128 memory positions, so a 32-sample wave will take all spots between 0 and 31, meaning your next wave would have to fall into position 32, or else shit will happen. What might be slightly confusing is that with 8 channels enabled, you actually only have 64 bytes of memory left for waveforms - but two steps in a waveform make 1 bit, so you still have enough space for four full-sized waveforms at once.
I had my first run with this beta this morning. That Namco chip is totally awesome. Probarly the most useful chip? It looked really flexible and seemed to have a lot of possibilities!
8 (!) Additional channels. That can be pulse/square triangle saw sine or whatever you want between that. I noticed how one instrument affected another instrument in another channel though. Perhaps I did something wrong creating the instruments?
Anyway this will be the most awesome update in a long time. Many many thanks to Jsr for continuing the development of FamiTracker!
One thing that I will be interested in, in the future, is to make hardware recordings using this expansion chip. Wouldn't a special cart be possible? Perhaps modifing a n106 cart and add a socket for eproms?

It's really quite depressing having written all this niftyusefulinfo on the Wiki, linking to it in a post right below the first one and still having people ask the same questions over and over... :<

I'll be pulling my hair out of my scalp when 0.3.8 gets released only to be misused a countless amount of times because no one would know how to use wave position.

The internet is composed of noobs, porn, and cats, what else would you expect.
It's not particularly obvious that there is a wiki at all (it's an easily missed 4 letters at the top of the page). If it's a question not answered by the manual I wouldn't automatically expect someone new to know that there is a wiki, or how to find the information they need on it.
