It weird, Every time I add something to an existing FTM, and save, when I exit Famitracker I automatically get a Minidump.dmp and an error message. I have no idea whats causing it. I've been writing A LOT of FTM's this week and 1 out of 2 times when I exited the program, i'd get what I just mentioned.

Happens to everyone I think?

It sure happens to me. And in the previous beta, it just crashed at closing. No MiniDump - a Windows crash notification.

Yeah, to be honest, all the samples I make start to sound like how I intended when it gets into A-4 and higher, but the higher it goes the more out of tune the note sounds. It kind of bothers me but I don't know if there's an easy (if there even is one) fix that can be made... The presets made don't seem to get out of tune though.

Take this trumpet for example. The sample (in my opinion) starts to kind of actually sound like a trumpet in the high octaves but tune (especially on E D and F) can be funky on some notes.

Could you add "Play from Cursor ... F7" to the Tracker menu? This playback feature exists but a lot of people (including myself until just now) do not know about it because it's not in the menu with the others; it's frequently asked about.

Also, === on DPCM doesn't do anything (I thought it was supposed to halt w/o the implied Z00). I posted an example here: http://famitracker.com/forum/posts.php?id=3191

As for the waves inverting, jsr told me something like the N106 (yes, I still call it that) inverts everything, even the fine pitch settings.

Well first of all, you're wrong calling it the N106; it's no longer a matter of preference at this point, it's just plain wrong. :p But whatever floats your boat, I guess.

And you'll notice not only the N163, but all other expansions' waveforms are inverted in the oscilloscope, so it's nothing to do with the N163 itself as far as I'm aware.

OH FORUM, what silly people you have!!! As much as I want FME-7, I think N163 will be the only expansion chip added to 0.3.8, unless jsr pulls a fast one on us, and .rar format can be opened using winrar, or winzip.

How does FT assign the N163 buffers? ppmck had you assign them manually, which isn't the case with FT.

I'm asking what the order of operations are for the automatic assignments. Is it the order in which you create the instruments?

@gyms: It's time to Wiki dat stuff!

Seriously, it's a bit disappointing having written all this nifty info about the N163 only to have people ignore it.

I read the wiki, are 'buffers' a moot term with FT? I'm seeing a lot of the same numbers with different terms assigned to them across what's in the FT wiki right now and what's in the ppmck guide for using the chip.

EDIT: or are the 'buffers' equal to wave position in this context?

EDITx2: it appears so. Looks like I got it twisted, ppmck actually assigns them more or less automatically. It seems the buffer numbers represent different wave postions to a degree, but without allowing you to specify the memory position. Simply assigning a buffer number is pretty vague by comparison.

Am I correct to assume,

if I had 4, 32-sample instruments in ppmck it'd have you assign buffers 0 thru 3 for each instrument respectively, while FT would have you assign wave positions 0, 32, 64 and 96?

Sorry to bring up irrelevant information from ppmck, but the relationship between 'buffers' and 'wave position' gets a bit lost in translation for me.

And thanks for the wiki page, it was well written.
