So wait, you can submit a MIDI, but if you run it through GXSCC it's invalidated?

...not that this BOTHERS me at all (I kind of chuckled), but am I understanding that right?

There's no midi category this year. So if you want to submit a midi file, you have to do it in the wildcard category (a category for anything remotely chip). So if you want to submit a midi runned in gxscc you can. You can also run it in reason afterward or whatever. As long as it's remotely chip.

Wait, really?

Because back at BotB's IRC channel, everytime someone says "well Wildchip and Allgear are kinda the same thing anyway, aren't they", some people go "uh, nope, you can only process the track further if it's allgear, wildchip is for anything as long as it is chip".

I mean yeah, it's a kinda confusing thing going on there, but if people are submitting unembellished chip tracks to Wildchip, wouldn't it be common courtesy to do the same?

Knox said back on BotB that "Wildchip is meant to be chippy".

He also implied that it's up to the voters to determine if a 'not chippy enough' entry is punished or not.

bump. there's new original entries everyday in the 'show your work' section, why not submit some? Give it a shot, you might like it(for those who haven't signed up already.)

recap:

nsf entry is 2a03 only this year, but you can submit an expansion nsf under the WILDCHIP category.

each category is voted on seperately and pitted against other entries within the same category.

...it's also a good excuse to segway into composing on other chips, since competition is a pretty practical thing.

So, are we allowed to compete over multiple categories, or are we just restricted to only one entry in only one category?

Yea, you could potentially have 16 entries this year, one entry per category.

There were a few last year that made an entry for each catergory...Chip Champion, Warlord and null, I think.

It's a platform nonetheless. =_=

Game consoles have operating systems, too, so I guess they aren't game consoles either.

All the good game consoles don't have operating systems.

Except PS3.
