Title is self-explainatory. I'm interested in this song, but even with VRC7 it would have no way of being played--will N163 provide enough tracks for this song to be covered?

We will make things change.
figure out the point where the highest number of notes are being played simultaneously. if it's over 11, than you will need more than the N106 to do it accurately.
I don't think there would be any problem doing it with multi-chip expansions, though.
I wouldn't doubt you can get it to sound good with MMC5 alone. N106 no doubt would be more than enough, but I guess if you want to use every benefit in creating it without jamming everything into a miniscule amount of channels, multi-expansions would be good, but then you'd have more than 1 kind of sound playing notes that sound like they should be playing from a piano.
Holy crap; that's one hell of a piano stress test!
But we can all agree; no matter what features FamiTracker may have, Circus Galop's impossible to cover. The only way & can see it being covered is by making a multi-expansion NSF using MML & using all available expansions.
Or, just use a real tracker.

Anything can be arranged for anything. You could certainly arrange the basic tune for 2A03. Getting the tune and maintaining the spirit of "test your hardware" would be a challenge for anything you transcribe it to.
I don't see the point of doing an nsf with this if you don't want to play with the limitation of the nes. Cause you could just do it with openmpt or renoise and use a high quality piano sample. Then you'd realize that it wasn't very useful cause it would sound the same.
It impossible [sic] for humans to play, as at some points all the piano staves are played at the same time, and up to 21 notes simultaneously. It is used to test MIDI software to drive it to its maximum potential, such as Synthesia, or PianoMIDI.
Sadly, the 0xy arpeggio on the VRC7 channels seems to be always at 60 Hz no matter what engine speed I am using.
FDS+MMC5+VRC6+VRC7+FME7B5+N163 allows 27-channel polyphony (noise channel cannot; DPCM channel can use sampled notes or raw $4011), but I doubt doing this song on such environment would be worthwhile.
So just go and import a MIDI of Circus Galop into Renoise plus some VSTi, and you have a beautiful rendition. Now.
