Uhhh... Imagine if someone would ask you what numbers you use for a good melody sound. It depends completely on what kind of sound you want. If you're talking about volume envelopes, pitches and stuff, you need different settings for each kind of sound (one or more for kicks, one or more for snares, one or more for closed hihats, one or more for open hihats, etc.), plus, if depends a lot on what style you want for your drums. Do you want it to sound like the drums in Mega Man or the ones in Castlevania? If everyone used the same settings in every song, there wouldn't be much point in being able to change the settings, would there?
If you're not happy with the drums you manage to create yourself with the noise channel, then perhaps you think the noise channel is more capable than it is. It's just noise.
Why don't you check out the demo songs? Those should give you some ideas. Or any of the songs you find in the "show off your work" thread.
Yes it is. The noise channel can't make any sort of "tone", so capcom (and others) frequently used the triangle channel for various drums. Just listen to the "get a weapon" song in Mega Man 2.
I think you should just keep on playing with the settings. FT comes with pretty good presets that you can use (create an instrument, and then in the volume envelope window, click "presets" in the upper right corner.
