after making the 50% one, I tried to do it, but as I said, making the 50% was just a coincidence, so I had no idea how to do the 25% square. And I don't think you can "duty change" carrier in VRC7.
Is there an FM instrument maker that lets you see a representation of the waveform it'd play while you edit parameters? I think that would be really helpful for understanding FM, I played with it for a bit but everything I made was like you said, coincidence lol

I'm not sure that's possible. However if you use a tracker like AdlibTracker2 (a tracker for the OPL3, which is backward-compatible with the OPL2, OPLL and VRC7), you can see the envelope for each operator, which is already a plus compared to Famitracker.

Ah, I had no idea that 25% was possible at all! What's even better that on a Genesis you can do this with 1 channel, the same modulator modulating two carriers. Btw, what's up with VRC7 instruments randomly phasing sometimes?
