I will be honest with yah, i didn't like either of those 2 "cave" songs very much, the noise channel was very overpowering on the first one, and the instruments note progression felt very weird and unnatural, the second one was odd, its like you made the build up backwards, the "scary" harmony came first then it turned into a clam one and it just felt weird as opposed to "cavey".
Decided to make a song using 1 horrible instrument.

You're right of course, this is the trancy side of DnB.
I've attached a little loop that sounds nothing like it, it's still nasty dnb I suppose, but I was trying to get something that was more like the rounded bass.
Pulse 1 is not supposed to be annoying - it's just there because some of the frequencies coming off the bass need to be masked. Of course someone with more time could mask it more eloquently.
Hey that's not bad. Maybe the square wave could be combined with an FDS sine wave instead of the triangle? That way the bass could be even louder and you wouldn't have those "ugly" triangle overtones.
if you want good triangle bass, steal the bass from one of my songs or from one of tim follin's songs. if you make it a relative arpeggio, the problem is that at some pitches it makes a perfect bass kick, at others it doesn't really sound like anything
For http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/OHC211 I made some 140ish bpm VRC6 progressive chiprock based off of an idea I've had for a song for mooonths. I didn't get to finish, so I'm going to complete it either this evening or over the weekend and put it on my soundcloud :D
(weekly thasauce OHC plug !!!)
edit: first revision, no new content just touchups. going to finish on weekend then
