I'm having lots of trouble with this program. So far, I haven't even been able to figure out how to create a single note. So, I ask you people to help me out. I've had in mind a song that's inclusive of orchestral-sounding violins and other instruments and sound effects. So, how do I start? I have indeed checked the wiki, but it hasn't given me any instructions that I can really use. I'm pretty okay at creating music, but I just can't figure out how to use programs like these. Please help and explain it to me in the most detailed yet simple and understandable way. Picture instructions could help.

Watch Danooct's tutorial. It helped me and many others out when we were just beginning. It's 5 parts long iirc.

I watched/skimmed through most of the videos. However, it only shows how to make little 8bit songs. I want to know: is there any way to make an instrument that sounds like a violin or something?

I dunno what I'd suggest for a "violin" sound, as I think finding appropriate sound substitutes really depends on the situation, but...

There is an instruments thread over here: http://famitracker.shoodot.net/forum/posts.php?id=1032

And also if there is any particular sound from an NES game you're wondering how to make, we have ways to figure out exactly how.

If you want to make orchestral music, I don't think famitracker is the right tool for you. A midi editor and some orchestral plugins might do better. The purpose of famitracker is to make "little 8-bit song". Just sayin'

My Little 8-bit: FamiTracker is Magic.

Also yeah, FamiTracker is definitely the wrong tool for you. Do you even have any idea what the program's specific purpose is?
