http://www.neillcorlett.com/informer/ - You don't want Mp3's or FLACs just use non -quality losing WAVs like I do.
No. Just no. Either answer his question or don't say a thing.
There are many ways but if you want to make it so you can record anything you want to mp3s not just nsfs get goldwave then open a new file, record done but first what OS do you use?
Hello Codl,
this is something which is often asked and after looking it up quickly on google, I have found two tutorials which are rather self-explanatory.
(Note that both are for windows users)
1)The first one is the "traditional" method, using winamp and audacity (winamp to create a .wav file, then audacity to create an .mp3 file).
The only thing off about that tutorial is that is is intended to create a cell phone ring tone, so please ignore the cell phone instructions, and also remember to set the .mp3 quality in Audacity to something like 192 kbps if you think 128 is too little.
Here is the link:

2) The second tutorial is a youtube video tutorial which also seems good.
It explains how to achieve the same results using Foobar, and skips the .wav recording step.
Here is the link to the youtube tutorial:

(3) This is also a possibility for which I have I have not yet found a tutorial, but it is rather easy if you have read the first tutorial presented in this post.
Again, using Winamp, this plugin will allow whatever is played in winamp to be converted to .mp3 files.
(Remember to download an .nsf plugin to be able to play .nsf files in Winamp in the first place...)
The .mp3 plugin in question is called out_lame.dll, and can be found here:
http://out-lame.sourceforge.net/
The plugin like any other, needs to be installed in Winamp's plugin folder
(C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins).
And in order to be activated, the plugin will will have to enabled when Winamp is opened (as Winamp is running, hit Ctrl+K, and go to plugins>outputs, select "Lame MP3 Writer", and double click to configure).
The recorder files will go to your folder of choice, which you can define by going to the configuration box of the out_lame plugin.
You can also change the mp3 quality in that box.
Last but not least, your .nsf files are set to play in a loop, for a certain number of seconds (ie:200 seconds).
To change this, once again: as Winamp is running, hit Ctrl+K, and go to plugins>input, select your nsf plugin (mine is NEZplug), and then you should be able to change the default playing time to your liking.
Good luck!

If someone has time to do it, and is feeling nice, I think it would be in everyone's best interest to create a sticky post with a complete and accurate tutorial for all OS, and possibly youtube step by step instructions...
Anyone up for the task?
The way I've done it seems much easier -- just hit record in a wave editor, and play the NSF in whatever NSF player you use. Once you've recorded as much as you need, top & tail it, maybe add a fade, save/encode!
This method does assume you're able to capture any sound your computer makes. I guess some soundcards aren't able to do that? I'm only using a crappy Audigy 2 though and that can do it.
They all can do it, but you have to set it in windows recording control first. If you have it, "wave" is pretty specific and should cover that. "stereo mix" or "what u hear" also works but it counts as all speaker output. Recording in winamp or another player takes a few more steps I would think, but otherwise isn't too bad.
This is a useful tutorial for converting audio via Foobar2000 (a great audio player imo). You need the foo_gep plugin to play NSF files.
Though you might need to tweak the converted audio via programs like Adobe Audition, Audacity or Goldwave.
