Hello
How are you making your music?
Where to begin - from the bass arrangement and fit the rest to it
Do you start with a harmonic function in your head and you spread it on separate channels?
Use Ctrl + enter option to listen everything in a slow tempo
How does it look with you?
Each song idea starts off with a different process.
Sometimes I just fiddle around with arps and base the song off their progression, while making a fitting bassline. And then just fit in a melody by making a neat instrument.
Or, I'll create rhythm first.
Or, I'll have counterpoint in mind and this is when I just improv the top line and then CTRL+enter to figure out the harmonies I hear that best fit that line.
And very few times, it's a thought out chord progression with some trickery, like changing the mode of one chord and modulating somewhere else when the progression repeats. E.g. I iii7 IV #iiidim IV, I iii7 IV #iiidim iv
I usually start by writing 5 or 10 seconds of music as a seed. It sets the moon/tone/sound for the piece.
After that I start thinking about larger scale things. At the top, an idea of how long the piece should be. Then I try to map it out, this 30 second section should be slow, this one should be intense, have a climax at 3 minutes, etc.
As I think about what those broad sections are going to be, I think about ways to transform that seed material into something that fits each of them. I might write a few short examples of these now, like the seed, to give myself a good idea of how they will sound.
When I have some sort of general plan, I start writing all the actual notes, finally filling out all the details. I find it a lot easier to do this when I know where I want it to go. As I work on this, I'll go back and revise my map as needed.
Anyhow, that's basically how I work. I used to just open up the tracker and basically write in a straight line with no plan, but I found it hard to write anything that I thought was interesting for more than about 90 seconds that way.
Another way I sometimes think about it is to pick a song I like as a model, and basically use it as a plan for what I'm about to make. I won't borrow melody or stuff like that directly, but I might copy the large scale timing and flow of the model.
What comes out is generally not recognizable as being based on the model, and it really helps get me through my "what should I do next" problems.
I start with either the percussion or baseline, then I go through harmonics from there, using lots of F7 and CTRL+ENTER.

if it's not a problem
is there someone who can make short video about making one pattern in famitracker?
if I use triangle for a bass and pulses for melodies, I have a problem with second melody
I wanna make nice harmonically sound between pulses.
idea to draft to moar drafts to final copy to revision to revolution edit to happiness :D

Day 1147
I've read up on all of my old forum posts, and I can not tell you all how grateful I am to have had your support and feedback in the past
Thanks everyone! Keep on composing :D

I normally just put random beats that get stuck in my head and then dick around with a melody or rhythm in a square channel until I find something I like.
Typically the other way around for me either results in a travesty or just never gets finished.
