I used the Korg-DS10 and the Korg M-01, and rhythm core alpha for my DS, and there triangle waves sound nothing like nintendo's, and no matter how hard I try with the Korg-DS10 synths, I cant make a good sounding nes triangle wave.
Is there something special that nintendo added to there triangle wave that is different from other triangle wavs?

Specifically the triangle is not an analog triangle, but a digital counter with a 4-bit DAC, i.e. there are exactly 16 flat steps in the wave's shape.
The DAC resolution is the most important component of the sound. The slight "shark fin" shape comes from a highpass filter later in the chain, but isn't really that huge a difference.
Other than that, it's got no volume control, it's either running or halted (the wave doesn't return to 0, ir just hangs at its position in the cycle until resumed with another note). Also, pitch control isn't super-accurate, a slightly out of tune scale is part of the NES sound, especially in the higher registers.
You should read [url=http://famitracker.shoodot.net/forum/posts.php?id=1213&pid=9137#9137]this post and the complete thread. We was talking about more or less what you are questioning, it is interesting. :D
I can agree on the slightly out of tune sound. Sometimes I spend minutes trying to figure out why a note sounds a little off, and there are no notes closer to the one I'm covering.
