I had a request that would make life a little easier for those of us without midi controllers. When you open an instrument, you get a very nice key board and it would be nice if maybe, ontop of being able to click the keys with our mouse to hear the results of our tinkering, maybe we could hold shift to place the nite we've clicked into the frame/line/space we have high lighted at the time when in record mode.

You mean to have an on-screen keyboard that will enter your notes in the current cursor position?

Yes. Many times the note I'm looking for is not mapped to my computer's keyboard so I'll have to then go drop the octave, and that works. But, not being studied in music, I'm often searching for the right note. It would be a matter of convenience if you could inject that note you were playing by holding a key that would make the on screen keyboard "active".

It would also be nice if the keyboard showed the name of the note you were pressing for educational purposes. But then, I'm greedy.

Actually, here's a little tip for you...

Let's say your octave is set at 3. That means your octave 3 notes will be as follows (plus a couple of octave 4 notes):

z s x d c v g b h n j m , l .

In order to get all the octave 4 notes (plus five octave 5 notes,) you don't need to change the settings; use the following keys instead:

q 2 w 3 e r 5 t 6 y 7 u i 9 o 0 p

This is according to the musical scale:

Do1 Di Re Ri Mi Fa Fi So Si La Li Ti Do2

I hope this helps.

What the hell are these o_O

Shouldn't it be

"Do1 do# re re# mi fa fa# sol sol# la la# si do2"

instead? ._. That's what I'm familiar with, at any rate...

"Do#" is called Di, "Re#" is called Ri, etc.

Thank you for the advice, I will certainly put it to use!

I also think the keyboard idea would be nice because sometimes us less musically educated types search for notes manually. Doing so on the bar leads to a lot of key stroke deletions and such that tend to cause trouble. Especially if you're like me and your first instinct is to hit back space.
"Do#" is called Di, "Re#" is called Ri, etc. It's the proper terminology.
I guess those are the English names then. I've always thought only A-A#-B-C etc. was the only terminology in English.

Interestingly enough, it's called the Solfège syllable system (& I also stand corrected because your terminology is 100% correct as well).

I'm quite aware of what solfege is, but like I said I'm only familiar with the French system (do ré mi fa sol etc.) and the English system (C D E F G etc.). I wasn't aware there was an alternate English one.

I second this request. I've never really liked computer keyboard note entry...one of the many reasons I use a MIDI controller with FamiTracker.
An onscreen keyboard that actually enters notes would be fantastic. I carry my trackers on a jump drive everywhere I go...quite often I'm without access to a MIDI keyboard and am forced to use the computer keyboard.

Not a huge deal, but I think it'd be a really nice addition.
