Hi everybody.

Recently started getting in to famitracker. Been in bands for 10 years and just decided I might try to marry my two loves (Music and Gaming).

So below is a link to my first attempt. I'm still coming to terms with effects and so on, but as far as basic melody lead stuff goes i'm quite proud of it. Any critique or advice at all, i'm ready for it!

Thanks in advance.

It sounds really good, for a first timer, though I think in has just a tad too much vibrato. Also, why no FTM?

Aaaaaaaaaaaand here is the file! Sorry about that.

Also thanks for the kind words! Listening back I agree about the vibrato.

This is a pretty nice first attempt!
I take it you are a Mega Man fan?

I'm always a sucker for octave arpeggios...it's a cool sound imo.

About vibrato - notice how good singers never start a note with vibrato - they always ease into it. It draws the ears *into* the note.
Doing vibrato on an instrument is the same thing - vibrato is great, but it should come on gradually, either by using multiple 4xx commands of gradually increasing intensity, or by just waiting a couple of rows before using a 4xx command.

Welcome!

That is awesome advice, thanks very much Mootbooxie. You're spot on with the Mega Man fan assumption.

One thing that I learned from doing this piece; towards the end there is a little lead in on the triangle channel with the Portamento effect. I accidentally left it on, but it sounds really good with the low bass octaves. So yeah.. cool!
