I am a newbie to Famitracker and after looking through the forums and through the PDF help file, something still isnt clear to me (depsite being told several times what to do)
I am still unclear on how to assign instruments to a track, and then change the instrument assigments on the fly?
I udnerstand that if i enter the notes on a track with the particular instrument highlited then it should be automatically assigned, however I have noticed that the "assignment" doesnt always stick on my machine (probably my fault).
Is there a way to specify the instrument in the list editor with some sort of hex value?
I had the same question 2 days ago and found the answer in the help file, under the Patterns section. Basically, the columns in your pattern editor (not the channels, the actual columns) are where the instrument is selected.
If you select an instrument in the list /before/ adding the note, it'll be use to play that note in your song. If you added the note before and would like to modify the instrument, just edit the second column on the note. ie:
[E-4] 0 0 - - - -
The 0 0 represents the current instrument. Change them to whichever instrument you want to use for that note. To know what digits to type, have a look at your instruments list (top right). Each instrument starts with a digit (usually 00, 01, 02...) That's what you want!
