Oh, kinkinkijkin, I made them that long on purpose, absolutely. I wanted to create a very legato feel, but have a bell-like quality. That's one reason I rotated the echoes in reverse order - to let notes ring as long as possible in their respective channels (in this case a dotted 16th note).
It sounds cool in stereo!
Although the effect is a bit lost when I reduce the ostinato to 2 channels...
