Could there ever be some kind of interface that would allow me to control NES hardware with FamiTracker?

I'd love to throw my MidiNes out the F'n window.

Or even a hardware NSF player ... something!

It would definitly be cool if jsr and x|k developed something together. Something like support for MIDI-out (to MIDI NES) in FamiTracker. I don't know if it's possible, perhaps the DPCM samples would be the hardest thing to transfer...

I wonder why the heck something hasn't come out yet. I'm surprised it took so long for something like famitracker to come out. I wrestled with nerdtracker forever.

I did some stuff once and was able to control the NES directly from the tracker, it looked like this:

I have some new ideas for something better where a joypad port is used to receive data instead.
But it would still require a devcart, and the DPCM samples has to be burnt on a ROM (impratical for live performances?).

I can probably add MIDI-out if you think it would be useful, and it would probably be possible to control a MIDINES. But I don't think it would be possible to play custom samples. (I don't have one so I cannot tell exactly)

Finally, I'm also wondering why something like this hasn't been made already. My guess is that everyone was just satisfied with MCK, judging from what I've heard from it. =)

Yeah ... I've been avoiding the MCK learning curve in hopes that any day now an easier option would present itself.

That setup would be nice ... I don't much care for the samples anyhow. Whenever I make NES stuff I try to be very minimal and authentic ... in the interest of nostalgia.

MIDI-out for use with Midines would be absolutely amazing. Sometimes I find it a bit uninspiring to control Midines via a Sequencer actually.

jsr: Why don't you contact x|k, perhaps he would give you a copy of MIDI NES if you add support for it in FamiTracker? I would definitly buy MIDI NES, if I could control it from FamiTracker! MIDI NES has built in samples (diffrent kind of drums etc.) I guess it wouldn't be impossible to at least be able to control thoose. And that would perhaps be quite enough? A descent bassdrum and a snare is in fact all you need to make som great music... (if you even need that!)

Yes exactly! Including midi-out for FamiTracker is exactly what I was talking about in another post. I control my MidiNES with an old school Brother midi sequencer and I would just be happy if FamiTracker exported to midi.

This brings up another topic I posted on the Cakewalk SONAR5 user forum; http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=777463&mpage=1&key=&#777463

In short the instrument panel in FamiTracker is awesome and I would like to find a program for Sonar 5 or some midi program that does the same thing.

Hi there!

I'm new, and i was looking for this really interesting thread :

I actually own a midines. It works perfectly, It's quite fun. For me, the only problem is to doesn't have a sequencer in this (like lsdj for example), and editing songs and sounds through ext. sequencer can become boring sometimes...

It can be interesting using famitracker as sequencer but there is one big problem : Midines just allows sound edition trough CC message. And as i seen, fmt doesn't seem to send any CC!

Is there any way to put this option? It would be amazing!
