I don't have any community connections here, I haven't had a reason yet to add anyone here to skype or aim.
Plus I'm really awkward when I first join a server. I overuse "excuse me, sorry if this is the wrong time but..." when I'm new to chats, so it may be a while until I'm actually talking.
Well, since you aren't going to use a chat client or anything, the best I can offer is an online tutorial which I used, though it will not tell you everything.
Sure; it's not IRC, but it's as easy as hell to use & you don't even have to provide a log-in password to join the chat. Just click on the Log In button, provide a user name (the password is optional) & you're ready to start chatting.
On top of it, you can also download the entire conversation history from this chat room (once the "class" is over, naturally):
That way, you'll still have some kind of a reference to save & go back to when you get working with ppMCK or MMLShare. If you want, Doommaster1994, I can pass you my copy of the applet & web pages needed to power the chat room on your own site.

I would love to join this "class" but I honestly don't feel like setting up IRC, and I will never use Skype as long as I live. Ever.
Anyways, I really like TechEmporium's idea of setting up a website with a forum and possibly a simple ShoutBox-style chatroom. The idea kinda reminds me of MetalKid's site.

Or maybe... If an IRC client or live chat applet were implemented on MMLShare... That's it! :D
Embed a live chat system of some kind on MMLShare. It already has an organized forum & it's already devoted to MML, so why not consolidate it all onto one common site?
I'd like to see what gyms thinks about this.

Well, I can't speak for Gyms, but I don't think that's a bad idea, seeing as how noobs like me would have a much easier time of learning this type of thing. Still, I'm still learning Famitracker, so I'll probably wait a while before I attempt to fail at MML.

Honestly, what I've been saying is only suggestions; Doommaster1994's ultimately the one who's going to teach here. Whatever way is easiest for him is the way that he should do it, really.
As for setting up other communication protocols, I'm not a big fan of it myself, but it's not complicated & isn't significant enough to ruin your system. I don't use AIM, Steam, Yahoo & most other instant messaging programs, but I wouldn't hesitate to install & use it (except for Skype).
