The format exists, but submissions that fall under "Classical" still compete with all other entries in the same category (cover or original), which I don't think is what Velathnos meant... I think such a competition would be a bit too complicated to manage though; Classical cover, classical original, regular cover & regular original makes for a lot of categories. :\

I also gather from crappy-ass Google Translate that the last FamiCompo Mini required one original song & two covers as submissions.

Nope.

ugh if you had to submit covers I'd be uninterested. I don't enjoy tracking covers.
I enjoy covering chiptunes with real instruments tho!

Awesome; so Google Translate is crap! Thanks for pointing that out, tadpole.

I think the rule is 1-5 submissions...can be originals, covers, or both.

Expect extra sections for no expansions or "classical" (no dpcm) entries, or a byte limit, or some combination...

I hope there is a limit of 2 songs / composer. Otherwise there will be like 325 entrys this year. 5 is too much.

This year I will try my very very best, hope it will take me over the middle in the result list.

But it's always so many great songs. It will be though!

I spent last night listening to all the covers in the competition, why the hell do people think they can submit well done loops and not cover the whole song. I also heard one file that was just a DPCM loop wtf.

I take it you didn't find them funny. =) They're joke entries. They usually come in at the bottom of the rankings.

I actually think they are better than the serious entries sometimes

So I can submit a cover to Famicompo? How exactly would I do that?

There's a section for originals and a section for covers.
