YAY! I can finally make good songs except it's kinda hard and time consuming but I'll see what I can do. It would be extremely helpful if they provided an example for every expansion.

Ahah I'm THE specialist in VRC7 here lol... Anyway I don't know if I'll contact neonempyr to update his guide or make myself a guide (wiki?) because this guy is wonderful but his guide is still incomplete and not always exact.

BUT for the VRC7 heh I played around alot with it, and I know it well. Throw me questions and I'll do my best to answer — English is not my native language and I may rely on examples when I can't find the words to say what I mean.

What? Never mind. Can I have a few examples of VRC7 in mml format?

I'm not so sure how to program mml myself.

Well, you could wait for VRC7 to be implemented into FamiTracker if you think mml is a little too complex for you...

Some day I'll make my own NES music software, and I'll call it Visual MML

It's not too complicated for me. The problem is it's annoying.

Hmm... Visual MML sounds intresting. If you could, would you like to port your Visual MML software to the Mac as well? I would like to test that.

Oh-oh! so, you're a programmer!
Well, I want to do something like that, like an IDE for MML but better and a few tools to manage memory/help creating song (virtual keyboard, piano roll)

VRC7 : well I guess you wanna know how to get good sounds out of it! I made a small instrument bank so you can understand and experiment

SYNTH BASS
00: {$30 $23 $0F $05 $72 $F1 $33 $F4}
01: {$30 $22 $14 $06 $62 $B1 $42 $F4}
02: {$30 $31 $CF $06 $A4 $F3 $31 $26} ; try for 3rd param: 4F, 8F.
SQUARE BASS
00: {$31 $30 $CF $06 $A4 $F3 $31 $26} ; try for 3rd param: 4F, 8F.
SINE WAVE
00: {$00 $01 $00 $00 $00 $F0 $00 $00}
SAW WAVE
00: {$31 $31 $21 $07 $F0 $B0 $0C $0C}
SQUARE WAVE
00: {$32 $31 $1E $07 $F0 $B0 $0C $0C}
YAMAHA DX E.PIANO
00: {$3F $31 $5F $05 $C2 $A1 $53 $43}
RHODES
00: {$31 $31 $5D $02 $C2 $A1 $53 $43}
BRASS
00: {$31 $33 $19 $06 $40 $40 $02 $04}

The VRCVII specification (from nesdev) may help you. That site, related to the YM2413, a sound chip close to the VRC7, may also help you [url=http://www.smspower.org/maxim/docs/ym2413am/]http://www.smspower.org/maxim/docs/ym2413am/. And if everything is like chinese, then I will explain my best .

Of course I assume that you know what is FM synthesis. If you don't, well... it may be difficult then........
