I actually like this quite a lot, but the noise channel needs some work, it's what's making the .ftm so loud. It's a shame, because it gets really good near the end.

Thanks man. I'll try and fix that. I haven't taken sufficient time to figure out DPCM. I started learning and then stopped when I got little confused. Any tips for DPCM?

You can import short WAV files into FamiTracker through the DPCM tab of your instrument; it's best to use WAV sequences of drum beats & other percussive sounds. Then, simply assign the particular WAV file you want to a note on the keyboard & you're good to go.

I love the title.

lvk pointed out the one flaw I was about to though: the noise. Have you though of using DMC samples for the drums? It would make a very good piece even better.

Yeah, it's pretty simple. Open up a blank instrument, go to the DPCM samples tab, hit load, load up a kick/snare .wav, then use the arrows below to assign the samples on the right to notes on the left and you're good to go. You can't use volume or pitch commands on the DPCM channel though, it's mostly just for playing back PCM samples.

Yeah, my only problem with this is that I'm just too lazy to get these files. As practical as it would be, I unfortunately would rather waste my time spinning in this comfortable chair than do something useful.

Ivk- everytime I import a wav. the sample just sounds like a bad radio signal...and it is the same sound for other wavs too...what am I doing wrong?

Should I start a new thread for this?

I forgot to mention you don't have a lot of room for your samples (16kb dmc samples, so your .wavs undergo quite some compression). Is your sample too long, perhaps? I attached a kick .wav which you can try importing - it works for me. If it works for you as well, try finding out how your .wavs are different.

(edit) Added a snare and a test .ftm. The Fxx commands on the DPCM channel are actually useless, I tried to make something funkier and failed. They're the same as using F04 throughout the entire loop.

To what are you setting the quality and volume? I'm setting the quality to 15 when importing, and volume to 4~7. Even at max quality, the sample only takes about 369 bytes (out of the allotted 16kB). Lowering it isn't recommended. The volume however can be adjusted to your liking.

Also, I tried adding dpcm/different noise to your .ftm, hope you don't mind (the added stuff isn't anything too special though)

Alternatively, use RushJet1's DMC converter, which I find gives better results!
