Hi everyone,

I didn't post in here for ages since my last fooling around with the FT driver.

I'm more of a developer than a musician so I track rarely and my skill should be considered very, very basic. But recently I had a song idea that came to my mind and I decided to see what I could do with it.

It's a very simple song, a work in progress, that feel like nothing compared to the other ones I just checked in the recent threads (Kulor's song are amazing and so are the latest one from other people).

I hope people will enjoy my "simple" melody test3 is the original version. Test4 is the same song but with the pitch changed and increased speed. Test4 would feel better in an action game than 3rd one because of the faster tempo (personal impression).

Any comment how what is good, or not, will always be appreciated. Keep in mind that I don't know squat about music so if you get too technical.. You will lose me

Two members older than some of our best return? And they both bring nice music with them? Nice.

I'm happy to hear someone likes it since it feel like such a simple song compare to the crazy compo posted here recently

I posted songs (2?) in the past here but they were covers, no original songs yet. This is the first original song that I ever posted actually. Other mails were related to nes programming only.

I have a few others work in progress that I started long time ago but I got that "mental block" where the songs doesn't move forward. Maybe I will finish them someday. I never shared them thought.

But first... I need to be more creative and stop that "repeat 2 frames" pattern that I'm stuck in. I guess I should learn from other people ftm, if I can find the time to study them I need to be more "agile" on all channel. Maybe someday.

Really like the song! So I decided to make a small funk/swing remix... out of boredom :P

@Kinkinkijkin:

No, unfortunately. The last time I was reading the forum is when there was that capcom craze around MM9/MM10. Tssf was making those covers. Then other people were doing Capcomish songs or MM covers. So it's been a while I have a backlog of songs to check. By the way the first song posted in your wip thread is quite interesting. I like it and it's getting very good.

@Weirdbananas:

This is a great remix, I really like it. I feel honored that someone took the time (even out of boredom ) to remix my song, especially on the first original song that I decided to take the risk to share. I always felt uncomfortable to share them since they didn't feel that good or not enough technical to me. I see that you style improved quite a lot since the last time I heard you songs. Now I need to check what new song you made recently.

I thought the melody sounded a bit like Castlevania, so I tried doing part of it in a Castlevania-ish style, but I'm not even sure how that style should be. I used an NSF to FTM conversion of the original game and moviemovies1's cover of nicetas_c's 'Vibrato' for reference, I hope he doesn't mind.

Needless to say I like the original. Good job!

The castlevania style is an interesting spin to the song, I would have never thought that I don't know how the rest of the song would fit in that style though.

For the actual song, if you would change the bass for DPCM and uses the triangle for drum it would sound very sunsoftish actually. But it would require to make more variant in the song to be similar.

Hehe, funny how it seems so popular to remix others songs these days! Great remixes of a great song.

banshaku: Keep posting more songs! I really liked your style.

I have some unfinished songs. I started to track with famitracker around the end of 2008 when I started nes deving. But my focus was on coding, not tracking. I didn't track after that for 1 or 2 years. I made this song this weekend, out of the blue.

I guess I should try to finish them someday, if I can find ideas for them. I guess as a coder I shy away because my melodies are so simple compared to the great songs I hear on this forum. Time to get more technical and learn music theory I guess?

Actually, that song by nicetas does not have a name. I named it that because it was an update with vibratos because the original cover did not have them. I don't mind at all that you use it for reference.

Anyways, banshaku: your song is awesome!
