Hello,

Let me start out by saying I am very, very new to this. I'm slowly getting the hang of FamiTracker, but I still don't quite understand what frames do. Before you suggest it, I've read the tutorial and related parts of the help file (how can one be so n00bish, amirite?).

Could someone please provide a short explanation? Are frames like pieces of a song?

Thanks

P.S. When I try to open the help file now, it says "Navigation to the webpage was canceled. What you can try: Retype the address." and the pages come up blank if clicked.

Yeah, frames are like pieces of a song. You can adjust how many frames a song consists of - once the song has played through all of the frames, it will loop. Each frame has a number, and each channel has its own frames. That is, if you write a piece of music in frame 01 on the Square1 channel, frame 01 in the other channels won't be affected. However, if you have frame 01 in two places in the same song and on the same channel, editing one will edit the other. I didn't realize this at first so I kept overwriting my previous music by mistake. It takes a while to get used to. The window on the top left in Famitracker shows you what frames will be played and in what order. All frames in a song are of the same length (number of rows), which you can change. You can also use special channel effects to jump from one frame to the next (hence making the frame in which the effect was used shorter).

Does that help you at all? Ask again if there's something you don't understand. Tracking is kinda weird at first but it's a lot of fun once you get the hang of it, so keep at it.
