hello!

as you might guess, i`m trying to make some music on famitracker.
i know how to put the notes in, created some instruments, blahblah...

now, the point is:
i`m trying to make a bass sound like there is in these 2 tracks from "rygar" (some of the best nes-tracks for sure ;-):
http://soundcloud.com/haudegen_kiel/sets/doug-hubbard-rygar-ost/
i don`t find any .ftm-files on the net to see how doug hubbard got the bass to sound like an old bass-synth (reminds me of kraftwerk sometimes).

has anyone got an idea or can help me out?

I suggest opening the NSF in NSFPlay and opening the "Keyboard" window. That gives you plenty of information to start with.

This is just the sound of two square channels playing an octave or two apart with various duty cycles.
This is just the sound of two square channels playing an octave or two apart with various duty cycles.
That's right. This effect is also used on GameBoy's Qix (1990).

i did: two square channels only, volume going up and down on one tone each, octave 2-3

i tried: simple instrument, used the vxx-effect, made the volume go up and down each two lines, octave 2-3.

nothing like that bass-synth but a high swelling tone.

how can you get a bass sound on the square channels and create these overtones?
could someone please send me an example?

thank you
and thank you all for your help -a great forum indeed!
