Alright Shiru, thanks for that. By the way, just throwing this out there but, exported VGM files seems to play incorrectly in Audio Overload. I'm not sure about any other VGM player, but the PSG channels would play well over the volume levels of the FM channels.

Volume balance is the most asked question. To save typing:

I have no idea what the proper FM/PSG balance is, as I don't have the hardware, and it is different across the emulators. I'm still waiting for help from some people who know this. Will be changed later.

There are other problems with VGM export as well. Wait for updates.

FINALLY! No more merging samples with VST Plugins, and trying to sync the tracks in FL Studio!!! This is what I've been waiting for since I first tried TFM a few years ago(and even that tracker was already awesome to begin with). I'm also glad that it's the same interface as TFM. For others that think it's too complicated, just spend some more time with the tracker. Or, better yet, look at a few examples to get a good idea on how everything works.

So, I've run the program already, importing an existing song I made last year, only now with internal DAC and PSG. You can imagine that I just kinda threw the new channels in together to test this out. Sounds great, so far. I think there might be some issue with the DAC sample volume on my end, because I can hear a pop near the beggining of the song. Nothing big, I hope. I Probably just need to lower the volume.

While I did want to tell you that you did great with this, and didn't want to report anything weird(hate having to do that), unfortunately, I did run into a couple of things:

1. The PSG Noise sounded completely different after I saved the song one time, and wouldn't go back to the higher pitch. I was trying to make a hi-hat sound similar to the Sonic games, and I had this sound the first time, modifying an instrument you created in your example. It even sounded the same when I exported to VGM, so I know it's possible. But for whatever reason, when I reloaded the song, it couldn't do that anymore. However, I closed out the program and opened it again, and it was back to normal. I have an example of this song here, if you want to check it. I hope it's just ignorance on my part. It may do what I mentioned, it may not.

2. I apologize if anyone has already mentioned this, but I cannot open the help file at all, no matter what I do. It kept saying that the navigation to the page was cancelled. Usually, I read the help file to help me understand what I'm doing before I dive into anything. Since it wouldn't open, I had to go in blind with this tracker. At least, I would have, if I didn't already know how to use it somewhat.

Thanks for creating this tracker, and, as I always say, keep up the good work! I look forward to the future revisions, but take your time with it, too. Don't rush anything you don't have to.

*EDIT*

Okay, with problem 1, I know so far that the PSG noise works like the hi-hat I'm trying to use. But only if you open the tracker, and then open the song I made first. Whenever you load a different song before you upload mine, the PSG sounds different.

Also, unrelated, your example song has all three PSG tone channels playing, along with the PSG noise channel. I thought that you couldn't do this on the real hardware(either two tone channels and a noise channel, or three tone/no noise)? Though I might be mistaken, after all...
*EDIT* never mind, that was just the limitation in the sound driver Sonic games were using.

Another very minor bug:

-The mouseover text when the cursor is over the play button in the sample tab reads "Load a sample" instead of "Play sample". Just thought I'd let you know..!

You should use GEMS, it's what they used to actually make Sega Genesis music. Though you need a Genesis dev kit to do that.

I have, like, waited for something like this for years. FINALLY, I get to play with quite possibly the coolest thing ever, thanks to Shiru once again. I have used TFM Music Maker, and I really like what he's done with this. What's next? SEGA CD PCM channels?

Beautiful as usual, Shiru.

I'll take the liberty of answering that question, already having asked it and seen the answer: no, there are no plans for expansion support (i.e. 32X and Sega CD).

Sega CD PCM channels? You might as well burn a CD and play it back on a PC....

I'm hearing so many clicks and pops. Can you avoid those simply with proper usage?

I guess on my end, it could be the samples. As far as the FM instruments are concerned, there's a weird phenomenon at the beginning of the bass instrument, but as far as I am know that is normal.

If it is clicking and popping like crazy when played through VGM Music Maker, just lower the volume in Preferences. I have this tweaked to export to VGM, so that is why the volumes are the way they are for the instruments. I will also upload the VGM as well, for those of you with VGM players.

Edit: this apparently occurs more on the VGM file regarding the samples. Maybe I should optimize these samples in the future to reduce the pop factor. I don't currently know why it does this, but I'm bound to find out...

No you shouldn't. GEMS is one of the worst sound engines on the Mega Drive.

I would suggest working with SMPS as its the most available and easy to use nowadays, but Cube is probably the best engine on the system.

Failing using the actual hardware, this tracker is quite possibly the best alternative.
