Since my computer got infected with spyware Famitracker hasn't worked for me. As soon as I open the program a box pops up saying[b] Directsound initialization failed (!)[/b] and the program closes instantly. I've tried many things such as removing the spyware and some other harmful programs and reinstalling DirectX but apparently the cause of this error still eludes me.

Format and reload winblows... it's a pile of crap! There are usually 2 solutions to problems with windows. Call it R&R... or Reboot and Reload.

The problem could be caused by corrupted registry settings.

Try open the registry editor (hit Run and enter "regedit"), and remove the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\FamiTracker.

But be careful when doing changes in the registry!

Thanks for the suggestions. I just switched user profiles on Windows and the problem doesn't effect the one I'm using now.
