No IMG tag here I'm afraid... [url=http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/eestlane_bucket/famitrackerbroken.png]FTFY.
Nice. Did FamiTracker crash in any way after you managed to do that, or were you able to use all of your samples? Did you try adding 4194298 kB of extra samples? :p
Well, i cant add from the [load] button, it says that 16kb is max but when i load an instrument with dpcm samples, then it loads fine and adds them with no problems :D. i think i just found a way to make full-fledged songs out of dpcm samples (aka chopping up an existin mp3, saving it as wavs and then making them into instruments)
Quick, delete the thread before jsr finds out and stops us from messing around and doing things like this: [url=http://famitracker.shoodot.net/forum/posts.php?id=2077][link]

You're too late; Mex already did this.
Technically, it would only be a true bug if you're looking at the FTM file as being an intermediate project file to compile NSFs. Otherwise, I'd say that the FTM file container should be an enhancement because it allows for more sample data to be stored.
I'd prefer calling it a bug because I see FamiTracker as more of a compiler than an actual tracker, but it should be up to the users.

[quote=Mex]Crap, someone finally spoiled this method!

I'm of the opinion that bankswitching DMC samples like ppMCK does should be a feature in FamiTracker. This method may work but you can't export to NSF, making it pretty much useless for anything other than a technical demonstration. :\
EDIT:

FTFY.

fucking wat. are you being serious. i can never tell. [/quote]
Yes; yes, I am. The fact is that FTM modules are actually nothing more than project files to compile NSF ROM files with (if you have the same programmer-like mentality that I have). This said, I also mentioned that, if you look at FTM files the same way as you would an XM, IT or MOD file, then it's not a bug, but an enhancement from the NSF standard's (& original hardware's) restrictions.
And compare FastTracker (& other similar, standard computer trackers) to FamiTracker; FamiTracker is much more limited than other trackers due to the fact that it's original intent is to emulate & compile NES music.
P.S.: I'm not trolling, either. If you don't like my opinion, I don't really care; just state your own opinion & the reasons behind it, without starting a flame war.

i restate, wat. you write your code in a text editor, you compile it with a compiler and then if it's assembly you link it with a linker. fami[b]tracker[/b] is a tracker, with an NSF compiler built in. it's not faminsfcompilerpieceofshit.exe, it's famitracker.exe. deal with it.
I think he's saying that trackers are compilers :p
Or at least one that's meant to compile NSF...which is bollocks because I never even knew about NSF when I vied to get an NES tracker. I "compiled" for mp3. (well, WAV first)

Wow; someone's getting hostile for no real reason here... And you present no real argument because you forget that FamiTracker [b]does compile[/b] the musical [b]source code[/b] that you create (the one that you [b]type in the program's editor[/b]) into NES [b]assembler[/b] & then [b]links[/b] it into NES-executable machine code (which in itself has limits due to actual hardware specs).
All you've done was refute your own argument on why I'm 100% wrong in your eyes, unless I've misunderstood you. Now, if you want to debate with me, please tell me (with a more logical reason than the tracker's file name) why I'd be incorrect, without getting angry (because I see no real reason for you to get angry over this). I feel I've made my previous points clear; if you need clarification on anything, please PM me.
As for other trackers, I'd equate them to being more like BASIC IDEs, where the tracker is the IDE (with interpreter/editor,) the module file is the actual source code & where a module player would be a straight-out interpreter of the tracker's programming language.
