[url=http://victimcache.bandcamp.com/]Here are the first two songs we have finished off our forthcoming album which almost exclusively features the NES for that sweet chiptune sound.
We used FamiTracker for all the NES arrangements which we then segmented into into discrete NSFs so we could capture each individual channel. We used an op-amp design (much like the CMoy pocket amplifier) to avoid picking up all that noise caused by the original audio path. There was some mastering work done (such as adding reverb) but we tried to preserve the original sound as much as possible since that's a driving force behind the album.
@furrykef Doh! I'm so used to the IPB way of doing things. Fixed, and thanks for the info!
@gyms I just powered down my Winders box and things for the night but I'll be sure to check it out tomorrow! Thanks for noticing the mastering That was before I learned about the wonder and magic of Ableton's multiband compressor. I'm all but forced to use it in the song I'm mastering right now and it does wonders.
Hey that's a pretty nice tune! Pretty chill and nice use of the VRC6. I noticed the way you made the song was without reusing patterns. Curious how your workflow was with that?
One thing I would love to see in FamiTracker was a way to expand the pattern manager pane to see more rows of patterns at once since I've been burned numerous times by thinking I wasn't using a particular pattern when indeed I was. Plus being able to better see where patterns are reused would be a huge plus.
