hello~
we put this album together in the weeks following the crisis in Japan. all of us have a strong affinity for Japan, many even have friends over there, so we wanted to do something to pay our respects, in our own way.
However, I felt you, Dave (yes YOU, DAVE) didn't go all out for your entry to this one.
Is it because you're actually gonna release that album you fleetingly mentioned somewhere on some chatroom (I don't remember which)? Please tell me that's the case, because I'd be hyping like mad.

that's true i wanted to focus more on mood and atmosphere. i think i could have done more to decrease the repetitiveness at times, through changing some harmonies and chords and stuff. but yeah, as far as doing very complex/virtuosic stuff is concerned, there's a time and a place. just wanted to try something different.
turns out tony wrote something kind of like mine except 10x better :J same old story!

this song was totally separate from everything else, and i didn't rush it on account of having other things to do. i started working on an album but i've sort of given up/postponed that since i didn't like what i was making. but i'm still working on things anyways. maybe one day.
How well known is it now? And who knows junkboy?
that comp had a really positive reaction, i'm surprised at just how popular it was, with a lot of japanese folk on twitter sharing it amongst themselves. ubiktune in general is becoming more esteemed, it's exciting to see.
as for junkboy, i guess c-jeff knows him somehow!
Good to hear. Has ubiktune considered hosting music on archive.org? They host a lot of netlabel music with CC licenses for free. Might ease up the server load if it ever gets too popular. Coincidently, MetaFilter just had a post about netlabels today.

This is exactly what happens to me; but in my case, it's for EVERYTHING, ALL THE TIME. I have 2 ideas for albums in my mind, not to mention a few songs on the backlog, a novel idea, and the desire to make a quick game... But then I think "Will I be able to pull it/them/anything off?" and the answer is "NO" most of the time. Yeah, that's how much I trust myself.
I need to brush those kinds of thoughts off my head if I ever want to stop doing, well, nothing at all. XD

it used to be hosted on untergrund but it moved to new hosting recently. i've seen people post music on archive.org before.. but isn't it always published using a generic interface, etc.? i think it's much cooler when a label is fully independant. i feel similarly about bandcamp. it's very utilitarian, but loses some of the appeal. anyway i think hosting is secure for now, if things get desperate dmitry could always put torrents up as well.
