Hey guys, I'm more of a programmer than a composer, but I'd rather not rely on other people to make the music for my games, so I'm (attempting to) make some of my own music. I've had Famitracker for a few months now, but haven't used it much because, frankly, I'm terrible at making music!
Here's something I've made that sounds a little like a metroid song, but it's pretty short, and kind of boring to me.. I'm not sure how to improve it, and I don't really know where I should take the melody from the end of it. It doesn't loop very well because it's not supposed to be the end of the song yet.
Whenever I start to make a song, I get an okay starting melody and basic beat, but I can never expand on it very well or make the different parts distinguishable.. Any help is appreciated.
By the way, I've played the cello now for about 9 years and I know quite a bit about music, but apparently it didn't help me much in composing music :/
(grrr I kept typing stuff about Metroid-style music, but my comments got erased when I pressed the send button. don't really feel like typing it a third time..)
