Is this tune good as it is, does it need expanding or is it a pile of crap?

I was trying to add a new song to my WIP OST & was just experimenting with a song from my previous OST (I intended to use it for a Graveyard theme, but have my doubts now).

Sounds good. Maybe you can add an increasing drum rhythm at the last section to increase the mood.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Well, that doesn't sound like something that one would expect in a theme that's meant for a graveyard, but it does sound like an interesting idea.

How exactly would you try to do it? Because I can't readily grasp where you'd exactly add a drum beat.

I'd still like to hear more comments, though.

Quite march-like snares might be good.

Also, for your DPCM set, maybe load the snare twice and edit the 2nd one to be shorter that way you could assign it to F-3 and have it loop to make a snare roll :D

Or I could just use an arpeggio or the Yxx effect.

But I haven't really intended this to sound militaristic, as I want it to sound more ethereal.

I've really based it on track 9 of my 2nd OST, which you can hear from the web browser here:

[url=http://www.stlflops.com/techemporium/warlord/]http://www.stlflops.com/techemporium/warlord/

I didn't use DPCM as I intended the theme to be more or less something that can be used in an exploratory component of a game (i.e.: an overhead map of a graveyard). This said, what was just posted sounds alright. Mind you, it can be improved a bit (& without any extra instrument).

If you're interested, I use the following for a snare beat:

B-# 00 8 A0B | C#3 00 - Z00
B-# 00 8 A0B | C#3 00 - ZFF

or

B-# 00 8 A0B | C#3 00 - Z80
B-# 00 8 A0B | C#3 00 - Z7F

And I keep alternating the Zxx effect to give a pop.

I'll see what I can do & if it's worth keeping.

EDIT: Here's what I could muster as an edit of your input, but I don't really feel that it's the best change. I know that this song's lacking something, but what; I don't know.

If you don't like it, maybe you can try something like 2 kick samples (?) to make sort of a heartbeat effect =P

Hmmm...

I'm not really liking the whole DPCM idea. It's not quite what I had in mind, but I think I'll wait for other opinions.

This song's lacking something... If only I knew what.

I see. Well you could simply add wind with the noise channel. A light wind sound couldn't be half bad. It'll definately add a bit of atmosphere to it.

Well, if & when I get around to making sound effects for all of my OST, I may add a wind track. But right now, I'm just doing music.

But thanks a lot for the input, man.

Upon getting to the melody, I immediately got vibes of [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVWpgmiIbas&t=0m30s]Donny Osmond.

First impressions:
-Irregular meter! I like.
-Forlorn melody; very fitting for the setting.
-The melody in octaves creates a Castlevania-esque feel.
-I think the first version, without percussion, is great.

However, I tweaked the music a bit; I think it adds a nice tag to the melodies.

EDIT: This time with attachment!
