Hi there.

I'm kinda new to this tracker stuff so please be patient with me.

Do I need to import samples for the DPCM channel to work? I had some problems with FT playing back instruments from my computers MIDI bank(!) when trying to type notes. Sometimes the square/triangle waves would play at the same time with the MIDI instruments. I had this fixed by banging my head to the wall and switching soundcard and MIDI devices several times to find the combination that works.

Now I hear nothing when I press a key in the instrument editor window. How do I fix this? I don't have any decent samples to import either.

The DPCM channel plays back samples. The only type of samples that it handles are ".DMC" files. You can find a bunch of them at http://2a03.free.fr/ Just click on everybody's name and see if you can find any .DMC files. You then load the file in famitracker, and then assign it to a note. Every time you play that note, the sample will be played back. You can set the speed from 0 (very slow) to 15 (normal). I find that most of the samples are designed to be played back at 15.

If you want to make your own .DMC files good luck. It's hard to get them to sound good. You are going to need .wav files to convert. There are threads on the forums at http://www.2a03.org that explain how to do it and get the best results.

Ok, thanks.

From one problem to another. Every time I create a new frame, it becomes a copy of the first one. Editing doesn't help a bit, as they both chance every time I do something.

Can't find anything helpful from the help file or the options menu either.

That's because a frame holds a set of channel patterns, and you've neglected to change any of them from 00, the first one. The help file doesn't explain much at all.

yeah if you create a new pattern you will see
00 00 00 00 00
00 00 00 00 00

say you want to do a different triangle part on the second frame, you would want to make it

00 00 00 00 00
00 00 01 00 00

or
00 00 00 00 00
01 01 01 01 01

...if you want new data in every pattern.
