First of all, can you stop posting more than once? If you need to say something else, just edit your post.
Anyway, yeah Follin didn't make the Driver for that Genesis tune. That was by Dean Belfield. But cmon now.
You need to give credit when it's due.
"His instruments outclass any other generic use of instruments."
His guitars where the only unique thing about Super Off Road.
Everything else like using a triangle for a bass drum or using very shorted samples have been done before in many other games(particularly the Japanese). It's just that Tim follin actually know how to play a guitar well.
Go to FamiTracker's sound configuration page, and turn the treble damping down to 0 db, and that high frequency aliasing that is kind of an endemic problem with FM synthesis will ring out pretty clearly.
Yeah, that must be it. Guess you'd have to hear a Genesis through an old TV to get the effect intended.

Also, if you haven't heard it, listen to the Shinobi III soundtrack. It's wonderful.
Awesome! Those background shamisen type instruments sound great. Thanks for the tip.
Oh and Doommaster1994, a totally legitimate why of getting close to snes tracking is using the mos format. It's a good for a way to know the limitations of the 64KB of ram. The only problem is the lack of reverb. I done a short demo here with the program. And make sure you click on the mos program in the mos folder.
I have a suggestion!! Particularly for the Sega Master System part of the tracker.
You should make it so that the instrument editor has an envelope for switching noise modes. That, mixed with fixed arpeggios, would mean no more tracking at full speed in order to get the noise channel to juggle bass and percussion simultaneously. You'd basically make it so that nobody ever had to suffer MOD2PSG2 ever again. ^O^

I actually second that one. Not to hate on MOD2PSG2, but that thing is a BITCH to track in. Although it DOES has a very customisable GUI, then again so does Deflemask.

if you ever make Bandai WonderSwan and Nintendo Virtual Boy possible i will die happily
then some day
deflemask becomes the universal tracker
and the entire botb is enforced to do everything with it
