Lets you hold down a key to be repeated?

(Not that that's particularly useful when tracking.)

You're actually right on this.

Key repetition is so that a note can repeat itself once it's held. This has it's (not so practical) use when trying to repeatedly play a DPCM sample at a constant rate (but I'm not sure how it works with other channels; I always thought that notes in non-DPCM channels were always sustained unless a volume effect or envelope is controlling the notes).

Well, it's maybe useful with the delete key when you want to blank out a column or something (redundant with being able to highlight/select an area, but having both options available probably increases the intuitive usability).

It's essential for use of the arrow keys, but they (rightly) don't pay attention to the key repeat option, they just always do it.

I can't think of any other situation where I'd want to use it though.

Also the step thing. Ugh. Since the shortcut for changing the step is something like Alt+1-9 and I'm using a laptop where € and $ sign shortcuts are placed RIGHT NEXT TO the arrow keys... it gets VERY annoying.
