The album is entitled d3ad_form4t a reference to the out of date electronics that make their unique sound possible. The 8 song album features distinctive rhythms and beats as well as a great ear for hooks and melody. The album is mashing of 8bit games sounds with hard hitting electronic sounds. The entire records was written in famitracker and recorded using an original Nintendo. It features several new songs written specifically for the release as well as remixed and reworked material that appeared on their first two EPs. The album is available in three formats. A digital download at the band's website nodetransmission.com. Pricing on the digital download will be a "pay what you want" with all of the sales being donated to the Electronic Freedom Foundation eff.org. A limited edition CD will also be for sale at the bands website. The final format will be an extremely limited edition handmade cartridge that will play the entire album on an original Nintendo system.

The original famitracker file is also available: source code
remix it & mashup!
The album will be released under the Creative Commons license. For more information about this licensing visit creativecommons.org

Wow, that's one very...unimpressive opener :\
Next tune picks up a bit.
#3, rock that 93-bit
#8, pretty good kicks
...for my ear, ummm...not really resonating with me.

To be honest with you, this soundtrack doesn't really resonate with me either.

Sadly, I don't really see how this entire soundtrack can be economically viable, due to how monotonous most of the tracks are. Sure; I can see some of these songs being played at a night club alongside a DJ's mixing board & turntables, but as a stand-alone product (even for a good cause,) they're not exactly impressive enough to encourage listeners to "buy" a full download or CD (which, by your current structure & idea, is more along the lines of a donation with incentive than an actual purchase).

Not to say that there isn't any talent behind the notes & beats (there's plenty of talent); my only problem is that I (& many others) have heard more impressive tracks.

....You're seriously trying to charge money for these? That's a pretty impressive opening for a new member, "Hey guys brand new here, pay money for my spectacularly mediocre tracks!"

Keep trying, I guess.

I think his thought process was more along the lines of, "I'm going to post these in communities who might have an interest in this (chiptunes)."

Still pretty brash of him to be asking for money, but I think less malevolent/bigheaded than danoct1 makes it out to be.

haha, opened the .ftm

First chords are B dim

THAT IS NOT HOW YOU TONICIZE A DIMINISHED CHORD

...and finished with b fully diminished 7th :\

#2 is in GMm7...well, that's the only chord...
#3 is in d minor, again, just that one chord, with unecessary V03's in the noise channel (V01 will do just fine...still honestly like them). The sqaure 1 channel is actually quite fine, if lacking harmonic motion.
#4 instrument 0B and 0C are essentially blanks. Either Ab augmented or CM sub6
#5 emm7, pleasing to the ear, just static.
#6 Harmonic movement! Even if dm: i iiº. Very hypnotic arpeggiation starting on frame 0B. I like this one.
#7 Starting on frame 0D you've got wrong note retriggering. The sqaure is playing at a steady volume with no envelope (well, 15 15 15 15) which means you wrote G G G, but what comes out is just one long G.
#8 meh. I can't think of anything bad about it. The best kicks in the album. Though, being a techno lover (real techno I mean) you gotta do more to impress me.

No offence, But I have heard better stuff from just people's messing around. I guess it's the sheer fact I enjoy more harmony structure than rhythm structure. This is less lead/harmony and more note/rhythm. Oh well!

Because it's worth dying for.

Besides...

See the irony here? The guy has a song whose title is exactly the opposite of what he's trying to do. :P
