A jazzy funk song! :D

This is a work in progress but I wanted to put it up here for you to see. Please tell me what you think and what I could improve... :D

Enjoy!

While I find the lead a little questionable over in Square 1 at a couple parts, I really like this one. Reminds me of Sonic 2 (kind of gritty like Mystic Cave Zone).

You've improved quite a lot, Weirdbananas.

I enjoyed it for the most part, I liked the guttural bass sound. My main qualm is that it spends quite a long time throughout on that I V IV progression. It got too repetitive for me. I think if you added a few more contrasting sections it would improve the quality of the composition.

I added a small intro and stuff to make it a bit smoother... Keep in mind it's still a work in progress

Go Square1 channel Go!

Shoutouts to instrument 06 as well :D

Since it's a WIP, a nice compositional technique is to have the main melody bounce over to the bassline while the main line (in this case Square1, at pattern 01-04) does something new. Just an idea for direction of this nice tune.

[edit:]
Concerning harmonic structure, I wonder what you'd do with 7th chords ^_^

I've actually tried to achieve 7th chords by using two famitrackers at once. But it sounded messed up I might try that technique though

I meant to change up the progression with 7th chords. Like I iii7 vi IV7 etc. You don't need a different note on 4 diff channels. Arpeggiate!

...BTW, do famitracker users have a way to differentiate the word arpeggio? There's the musical concept, the 0xx effect and the instrument editor's arpeggios.

Musical concept: Broken chord
0xy effect: Loop the initial tone for 1 frame, the initial tone transposed x semitones higher for 1 frame and then the initial tone transposed y semitones higher for 1 frame only if y <> 0; otherwise, that is, if y = 0 then only the initial tone and the tone transposed x semitones higher are looped
Instrument editor: Play the initial tone transposed [n-th value] keys higher for the n-th frame; there also exists a 0.3.0. re-release featuring absolute arpeggio (the current FamiTracker still has this function but cannot be enabled without the use of a hex editor)

So does that mean the 3rd arp note is x+y higher than the intial, or y higher than the intial? It's always confused me.
