You mean the note will play continuously; this is a feature for when you step through all the notes in your song (to check for volume fades & other effects).
To stop the note from playing, press F12. It says so in the Help file that normally comes with FamiTracker. I suggest that you open & read it; doing so won't just tell you about functions that you may not know of, but it will also show you all the possible sound effects available.
