I recently grabbed up a PowerPak from RetroUSB so I could play my FamiTracker creations on a real NES. It works wonderfully! FT does a pretty damn good job but I can definitely hear subtle differences.
There is, however, one issue - I can't mute channels from the NSF when exporting. By muting I mean clicking a track to turn read (or double-clicking to solo). If I mute a track and render out to wave, it works, however.
The reason that's important is because I want to master the results in separate tracks to better adjust volume. I figure recording from an NES is still in fine spirit of the whole purpose but do want to balance audio and add some stereo separation and things.
Anyone have any ideas on how to go about doing that, other than to make a bunch of copies of the song and delete all but one track in each?
For the curious, this is basically for a new album with a friend of mine called Chipsurf Pipeline. As the name implies, it is the melding of the chiptune and surf genres. If you want to see the results (sin a real NES for the moment):
