I've seen a lot of "guess which game is this song from" threads around and I decided to give this meme a little spin with a song that's not from any videogame (that I know of).
There's a hint included in the FTM, and I'll give you another one just for kicks: The author of this piece has had (a fragment from) another of his songs made famous while played through a sound chip. VERY famous.
Francisco Tárrega must be the composer then... But what song could it be?
This will take me a while.
And yes; I like how you tried to simulate guitar strings being plucked, bit it's not quite the same in 8-bit music without using a rapid volume fade-out after every pluck.

Also yeah... I tried the fastest fade-out possible but it popped quite nastily (something it only does in VRC6... though I didn't check if the NSF would have it), so I decided to make it a little bit subtler. Which in the end turned out sounding very vague. Well, at least I tried.
You really did give it away. You said the initials of the composer are FT (& there's only one composer I know with those initials). You also named your instrument as "guitar" (which got me trying to confirm the existence of a guitar composer with the initials FT). :P
The hard part was actually going through his repertoire (much of which, with other classical composers, I physically have on LP records, tape cassettes & in MP3 format).
I'd still say it's a better attempt than my La Catedral cover.
But have you tried something like this for a string pluck:
