I'm guessing this has probably already been mentioned......but is there any rhyme or reason as to why FT will suddenly cut down the number of rows per frame? I'll have it set at 200, and then all of a sudden it will be down to 150. Sometimes it even ERASES the 50 rows it cut...........not fun.
I have never used Dxx even once... my frames are almost always two bars long (for me this usually means 32 rows), so my frames are short enough that I never feel the need to jump into the middle of them.
I use the Dxx command a lot, too. I used to have problems with rows disappearing but haven't run into it with newer versions. Are you using the latest version?
you probably know this but, only use the Dxx command if you need certain frames to be longer than others. Otherwise, just adjust the 'rows' in the song settings.
I'm using 3.5. I guess I'll just have to live with it. I think things get erased when the rows switch to a lower number with out me knowing, and then I SAVE the file....I think that's how it happens.
As a side note....I was looking through the updates for 3.5, how the HELL did you guys live without the Sxx effect to cut notes off? I use that on practically every note.
Also, related to that, I think a good effect might be an automatic cut off right before the next note. Or maybe a way to measure xx frames before the next note.
I don't use Sxx either. Though maybe I should use it on my basslines instead of my current technique. (My technique is to create an instrument called "bass 8th note", with an envelope of something like 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 0 -- the exact value depends on the song -- which I use for 8th notes and for ending longer notes, since a triangle with no volume envelope will blend into the next note.)
alright, downloaded, I'm now a beta 3 user. Yeah, the envelope is a good idea if you're doing something consistent. I think all in all, the Sxx is really as good as it gets.
