When I was forum surfing earlier today, I came across danooct1's cover of Dr. Wily stage 1-2 from Mega Man 2, and liked it. I decided to edit it to make it even more accurate, but as I was closing the webpage, I decided to see if anyone had beaten me to it. I found Kizul's update, which fixed some parts while messing with others, and decided to combine the two, and edit if necessary. So I did it, and it was better than I was hoping for, which is always good.

Give it a listen, and tell me what you think!

Made in 0.3.5. because it finally worked on my computer!

Actually, "slick0" did a cover in these same forums about a week ago. The thread is still on the front page of the show off your work forums. Also, Miau did a cover back in 2008 I think that was pretty accurate (considering what version of famitracker he had to use and its limitations at the time).

yeah, slick0 did. His was better than mine in some respects, but Miau did not. He did the one for MM5, not MM2. HUGE difference there. I definetly think 2 was better, but that's my opinion.

I have a version that I d/l at the same time as the MM5 ftm by Miau back in 2008. I got it at http://2a03.free.fr/ I believe. I know I got the Miau ftm's there....oh well.

I think it sounds great all in all.

At frames 04-05 and 10-11, I believe there is some minor changes to be made on the triangle riff. But this is just by ear, I am not 100% sure about it, there seems to be missing a few higher pitched notes. Other than that, I think it sounds awesome.

yeah, I know there are a few mistakes. If anyone wants, they can edit it. I'm making a vrc7 version, and it's going great! I will post it when it's done!

It sounds pretty good, but I wish you would've gone more the remix path rather than the "transfer the 2A03 channels to VRC7 channel" path. I'll bet you could pull off a very spectacular remix if you put in the effort. Good job nonetheless.

The first thing that came into my mind is that MM2 Wily 1 might be able to be remixed in CV3J style which I haven't really mastered... Yeah, it sounds quite ridiculous.

In fact the most accurate Mega Man cover I found here (excluding mine, of course) is MM3 Wily 2 by bucky, but even so the vibrato is incorrect there.

I have a question for you, nicetas. what do you mean when you say cv3j style? is it some externally downloadable expansion chip? or something completely different?

Castlevania 3 (J) used the VRC6 expansion and had its own style. I'm pretty sure he's referring to that.

Yes, and it worked surprisingly good in that competition.

However CV3 isn't too friendly with 180BPM (although CV1 has Wicked Child) so I'd retract my idea a bit, maybe get back to study CV2?
