I wouldn't call it a failed attempt; I'd just say that this isn't exactly what you're used to doing as your style.
I liked the first test song, but I can still tell that it's not the style of music that you're used to because most the songs (at least most of which I've seen so far) take full advantage of each chip's features. In this case, you're not using any of the pitch-bending, duty-altering effects that you normally use (which I'm sure you're not really used to doing).
Nevertheless, it's not a failed attempt; it's just not your style because you're so far advanced (to the point of not being able to go back to the extreme basics, in my opinion).

What I meant was your use of pitch bending effects (like vibratos & hardware sweeps) as well as your great use of speed control, among other things (i.e.: advanced usage of the tracker to tune the sound precisely). This is aside the use of expansion chips to increase the number of channels (which also lets you increase the possibility of setting varying moods in your tracks). By style, I meant something more broad than the style of any particular game.
Don't get me wrong; I actually like the first song of your track (& I honestly look up to your skills). All I was saying is that you're so advanced that it may be a bit harder for you to go back to the basics (hence a possible reason why you called this a "failed attempt".

failed?!? FAILED!?!?! WHAT??? I'm not listening! (To anything except the work of art I just downloaded!) What are you calling failed? If i had made this, you would have given me something else to work out, but because it's your's you stop. Which is exactly what I do, except I'm not nearly as advanced as you are. This is seriously NOT bad. Just please keep doing stuff like this sometimes!

. That's a Nintendo TM of 1984/1985 games! (Balloon Fight, Gyromite, for example).
1st one sounds like a little loop for a puzzle game like tetris. 2nd one sounds like invincibility or time running out.
