This was one of my first works, It's the "Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy" BGM from the SNES game Yoshi's Island. Please Comment!

OPEN IT WITH FAMITRACKER 0.3.0. otherwise all envelopes will be missing.

Not too bad for a first work, but some work can still be put on the noise channel.

First work? I hope it's not the last.

Naturally, work is needed, but for a first song, it has everything one would expect in good (if not great) music; a good beat (though your noise channel does need some work with volume control,) good harmony & it sets the overall mood right.

Good work, tdude10.

Great attempt here for sure. Also, TechEmporium summed up what I had to say in terms of improvement.

Don't be afraid to insert some 1s to Fs in the column to the right of the instrument numbers for volume control. Plus, having the speed set to 11 is a little high when it comes to swing. Make use of the F effect between every second row to get a song groovin'.

Hope those tips from a fellow 204 resident help. See ya soon!

There is no swing or whatsoever; Unless what you mean is a rational tempo.

Why not try a custom engine speed? Here is an example. You might have to modify the envelopes a bit.

And yes, I added a V02 and a V00 to make it sound somewhat better.

nicetas_c, that's correct. There is no swing. I just play around with the F effect and rational tempo to simulate swing. Nice trick with the duty cycling as well. The track is sounding much nicer. I still can't wait to hear more from tdude10.

I updated it slightly, just puttin' some volume control on the noise, and editing the duty. I also added an echo in the middle.

That's very good. Keep it up.

Optionally, you can challenge yourself by using only one blank instrument. That way, you can practice using the volume (Axx) & duty cycle (Vxx) effects more.

One example would be to use a blank instrument (one without any settings) for your noise channel & use the effect A08 to create your noise claps.

Thanks, I really know next to nothing when it comes to effects, though. that's usually why I make do without them. But I do have a cheat sheet written down now so... maybe I should experiment more.

You should also have a help file with your package of FamiTracker. If it's in the same folder as FamiTracker, pressing F1 while running the program will open it. This has a list of all the effects anyone could ever need.

weird, I've tried to open it on many occasions, but it appears I don't have a help file...

Help file is absent in beta releases; you can only find them in stable releases.

However, it might be a good idea to copy & paste the 0.3.5. help file for use with the current 0.3.6. beta since there aren't a lot of changes actually.

EDIT: 700th post
EDIT2: I must be too lucky that a 500 error showed up after I edited this post for the first time...
