I have a PC running XP, and lately I've been cleaning and defragmenting the h-e-double-hell out out of it, so needless to say I got it running pretty smooth.

FT boots up quite fast for me, and I can enter in note data very speedy as well... however when I go to play back what I wrote in my computer slows down to a near crawl and everything gets all wacky shack on me.

Everthing else runs fine.

I have also had similar problems in Fruity Loops, but if I slide the buffer setting up and down I can trick it into working for a while. Perhaps these things are related? I'm beginning to think it's something to do with audio playback in general. The CPU meter isn't overloading or anything, I'm stumped.

I'm also not connected to the internet on it so it's possible some things may be out of date, perhaps I am missing some driver updates or something?

Sorry for the length of this question.

Hi, I think the problem is the sound buffer being too small.

Go to File->Configuration->Sound and increase buffer size until it stops. You can also check Help->Performance, the audio underruns label shouldn't increase.

The problem is usually not caused by the computer being too slow, instead it's all by the sound card. Updating the drivers might also improve it.

Yes, that helped a bit but even after moving it all the way up I'm still experiencing problems... Is it possible to download driver updates on my mac and put them onto the PC with a flash drive? That's how I get things on there.

Yeah it should be possible, just download the file to the drive and then run it in the PC.
