Hi. I'm new to this forum, so sorry if this has been posted before. I have however looked around and didn't find anything, so here goes.

In version 0.3.5 and onward, when I try to copy some notes from one pattern to another, say from pattern 00 to pattern 01, when I paste the notes, the entire parrern 00 takes pattern 01's place, instead of the notes being inserted into pattern 01 like I want.

Sorry if this is a messy explanation of the problem. I will try to clarify if needed.

Cheers

Ozzed

If this is a problem, you must have done a messy job in explaining it.

Do you mean to say that, when you copy the entire pattern 00 & paste it into pattern 01, your pattern 01 contains all of pattern 00's notes? Because this is how it's supposed to work.

If you copy all the note from one pattern into another, then both patterns will be the same. However, if you edit one of the two patterns, the change will only affect the one pattern & not both. So you're doing it right!

Yeah, Ozzed... you might want to clarify. I'm not sure what you mean.

Are you talking about copy and pasting whole patterns from the small window in the top left corner of the screen, or music data in the big, main window?

If you paste into the big main window, you are going to overwrite what was there in the first place, unless you check paste & mix from the EDIT menu. Is that what you're looking for?

I'll try to clarify.

Lets say I have frames that looks like this:

01 02 03 04
05 06 07 08

What I want to do is to copy note data from the upper leftmost pulse wave pattern (01) to the downmost pulse wave channel (05)

So what I do is I select the notes I want to copy from 01, highlights 05 at the place where I want my notes, and pastes it.

The expected result would be that the bottom row now looks the same, but pattern 07 now have the added notes that I pasted, but instead, the bottom row now looks like this:

01 06 07 08

So instead of just copying the individual notes, it copied the entire pattern and replaced it with the one that was originally there.

If this isn't a bug, how do I copy individual notes from one pattern to another. It works fine in earlier versions.

Thanks in advance

Ozzed.

That's not the intended behavior. Must be a bug, but I've never heard of anyone having that problem before.

I've had this problem as well. I figure you must be using the mouse and clicking on the paste command. Instead of doing that, here's what you should try:

Copy what you need in the pattern, or the entire pattern as you normally would. Instead of clicking paste, use the keyboard command 'Ctrl + V', and it should paste in the new pattern with no problem.

It is, indeed, a bug that has yet to be fixed, but it's one that can be bypassed through this method. It's not too much of a problem.

I've heard about this earlier but haven't actually seen it myself until just now: it appears only when you copy/paste from the popup-menu in the pattern editor. I will fix that, but the solution right now is to use keyboard shortcuts or the toolbar buttons.
