i was looking into chipmusic and tried about a hundred c64 sequencers, trackers, soundmachines and i was fearing all the months of hard work ahead of me, and all these #fa 864 NTRS bleep bleep moments i should learn to understand......
And then i found the famitracker (-via nullsleep's site)
One night (7 beers and 12 cigarettes) further i was making my own songs with this tracker.
It's great !!!!
I do have a few minor aesthethic bugs/thingies i found though.
-the help chm file , when i open it from the tracker and i click the ? again (i don't know why) it says error loading help,
i think it should just bring me back to the help window
-the help file window somtimes disappears , or i mean sometimes when i click the famitreacker in the taskbar in the bottom it takes me to the help file, i close that and then i go to the tracker, it's all just minor but it feels choppy.
-I think there should be a close option under file , and when i save the file and quit , the program still asks me to save the program.
I just mean i see a tad to much save this file windows (if you ask me)
But overall you've created the best, intuitive tracker of all with fat sound,
I got another question though
i am making a computergame/softwaretoy/simulation under flash with the 8bit look, and i am looking for a way of doing the sound (it is going to be famitracker, and some c64 proggies for sound fx
but is there a way to play these nsf's without creating mp3's of them?
Oh and i would like to offer my services,
i've created many GUI's with a real 320x200 back in the day feel,
and i could easily make one for the famitracker,
is there a way of incorporating this GUI or is it all standard windows programming greyness everywhere ?
Great that you found out how to use it! =)
You mean clicking ? in the toolbar, right? That button hasn't been implemented for all this time, the menu option should work.
I don't know about the disappearing window though. It seems it disappear when the tracker window is minimized.
And finally, what would the difference be between close and new? I know about the annoying save dialog though. =) I'll remove it in some way.
I'm not sure if there are any NSF players in flash. MP3 would probably be the way.
Thanks for the offer about a GUI, but I'm using MFC and I'm not sure about how to add custom GUI's to that. If I would switch to like SDL or something then it would be really useful, but unfortunately it requires too much work to do that right now. Possibly in the future.
