and when you play it in the 3.6 beta tracker, the vrc7's were overpowering too...

moviemovies1: What NSF player are you using? This depends on the mixing levels in the NSF player and cannot be changed by the NSF file. I've measured and adjusted the levels in the tracker according to the actual hardware.

jrlepage: I'm not sure what's causing the invalid filesize error, but I'll look into it. Adding number parameters to VRC7 would be easy, I'll look into this too.

I have tried many, but the result is always the same. Lagrange Point NSF plays fine, but FamiTracker NSFs have too overpowering 2A03 channels when VRC7 is enabled!

I remember mentioning this to you one time, JSR; there must be something that was overlooked when implementing VRC7 NSF exporting because Lagrange Point's NSF is the only one that plays properly on most dedicated NSF (most notably when all settings in all players are matched the same).

Mind you, the only player I know of that doesn't play Lagrange Point properly is Nestopia. This said, the exported VRC7 NSFs don't play properly. I have a feeling it's because of how FamiTracker assembles the NSFs.

I'm also very sure that there's isn't enough in the way of proper VRC7 documentation when it comes to determining the proper mixing volume to use in an emulator.

TechEmporium: I'd like to know how you concluded that Nestopia isn't playing Lagrange point properly? Because my opinion is that it does it quite well. I can provide hardware recordings from Lagrange point if you want.

Anyway I don't think it's justified to put too much work on this since the audio was used only by one single game, and the only active sound beside FM was used for percussion.

I'd quite like a recording of LP's track #10, myself. I have many players and none of them play it the same way. :o

I did a recording of track 10, and it actually sounds different from any player as you said. I haven't noticed before.
The interesting thing is that this is the custom patch playing, which means the error is in the emulation and not in the built in patch set. I checked all songs now and the same can be heard in a few more tunes. I might investigate this later, depending on how much effort it appears to take (as I'm not very familiar with FM).

The recording is here.

Thanks for the recording; I always knew that Nestopia couldn't play any VRC7-enabled NSF properly since I first mentioned a problem with the VRC7 channels being overpowering.

However, I do agree with you that it's the custom patch that might be the cause of the problem; the FTM I posted for the aforementioned problem used a custom patch.

So, is there any fix for the VRC7 volume problem while using a custom patch? Or does this mean that there actually IS no problem whatsoever?

Am I the only one to say 'hurray' in his 1000th post?

Anyway, good to see FamiTracker no longer generating BAK files.

Found a bug in 0.3.6 final: Ctrl+1~4 to transpose no longer works for note under cursor (still works with selection). I don't know if that was intentional or not, but I liked being able to just select a note with the cursor alone and transposing it with ctrl+1 or ctrl+2.
