My plan was to release the full version after the first beta, but I've been doing some more work on it so I think another one is necessary: I have uploaded [url=http://famitracker.shoodot.net/files/beta.zip]0.3.6 beta 3 here. A complete list of changes is included, it's mostly bug fixes.
I've checked a real VRC7 cart now and adjusted the mixing volumes accordingly, it turned out that the FM channels is a lot louder than the internal channels (full volume on a FM channel is about 13dB louder than square channels). Some of you might have noticed this in NSF players already, and if you haven't then you'll probably have to adjust the volume levels (if you use it along with the internal channels). I also had to decrease the 2a03 volume when VRC7 is activated in order to allow VRC7 on full power without clipping.
I was also told (by anewuser) that the built in patch instruments was inaccurate, so I checked a few and this appeared to be true. I've replaced the patch settings with a new set (created by kevtris) that are supposed to be more accurate, but I haven't checked all patches myself. The difference are not very big though.
Problems with this beta are welcome here or in this thread: http://famitracker.shoodot.net/forum/posts.php?id=1146.
I'm not able to get it to work. Pushing enter or the play button does nothing. I have an error: "It appears the current sound settings aren't working, change settings and try again!" I've tried changing the sound settings, still nothing.
Also, when I push 'file-open', nothing happens.
Edit: I'm trying out the newest version. Both of my problems have been fixed (yay!).
Ok, that's not good.
I've made some changes to the sound player thread as an attempt to fix the random crashes some people appear to have, for some reason it locks up. I'll try to find the cause. (I'd also like to know if more people have this problem)
EDIT: I think if found the problem, it appeared in windows XP but not windows 7. File is updated.
Here's a problem with all the versions I have of Famitracker:
Whenever I have a lot of instruments, a scroll bar appears under the instrument panel like it should but if I try to scroll it to the right, after I let go of the mouse it scrolls back to the left. This is very annoying for me so if you can fix it that would be great. I'm using Windows XP Professional.
Now I found that file load dialog bug, it was another problem linked to differences between windows 7 and XP.
alex_mauer: There was another Q/R effect bug I forgot to include, one which happened when a new note is triggered before the slide was done. It should be fixed now.
The beta file is updated.
Doommaster1994: That behaviour is intentional because it's supposed to always display the selected instrument.
It's working great now.
Hey! The 7xx command is sounding a lot nicer than before! I like it! Also, I love that you can export to nsf while playing your song, and it doesn't restart the song anymore.
Sometimes, when a program crashes 7 you have Visual Studio installed, the programming IDE will start up & try to debug the executable (this is especially true when it comes to MFC applications).
I've seen this happen more on Visual Studio 6 than on any other version, honestly (I remember that from my college years).
