The note cut makes the whole song sound like a laggy fast song.
The triangle tom is too overused.
The vibrato effects are quite awkward, especially for the 445s in Frame 04 and 05.

Also, Castlevania 1 is famous for its super low volume. This song ruins it. (seeing you are remaking the one from NES instead of somethig like VK2K2)

I done some changes now, overall volume of the Square Wave is much lower, made a volume sequence for the main instrument (lead), deleted and moved some note stoppersm, and made less use of the triangle tom. I think it sounds better now

The vibrato in your updated version still seems out of place. I'd try something of a 461 or something similar, Megaman music never goes very deep in terms of pitch when using vibrato.

There are inaccuracies throughout the whole song, mainly on SQ2:

Frame 00:
SQ2 Rows 40[64] and 58[88] should be D-3.

Frame 01:
SQ2 Rows 40[64] and 58[88] should be D-3.
SQ1 and SQ2 on Row 64[100] should be swapped.

Frame 02/03:
SQ2 Row 2C[44] should be C-4.
SQ2 Row 50[80] should be a note cut.
SQ2 Row 54[84] should be empty.
SQ2 Row 58[88] should be F-3.
SQ2 Row 5C[92] should be D-3.
SQ2 Rows 64[100], 6C[108], 74[116] and 7C[124] should be F-4.
SQ2 Rows 68[104], 70[112] and 78[120] should be D-4.

Frame 04:
SQ2 Rows 00[0] and 40[64] should be A#3.

Frame 05:
SQ2 Rows 00[0] and 40[64] should be A#3.
SQ2 Row 6C[108] should be E-4.
SQ2 Row 78[120] should be G-4.

Frame 06:
SQ2 Rows 00[0] and 04[4] should be A-4.

Frame 07:
SQ2 Rows 00[0] and 04[4] should be A-4.
SQ1/2 Rows 68[104] and 6C[108] should be empty.

--------------------

The lead is too percussive now.
The snare is overused like the triangle toms in your first version.

I don't think he's doing for an exact, precise cover of the song, he's just using different chords that sound better in a Mega Man setting on Sq2 a lot of the time. I think the only real problem I have with this is the drums-- they are pretty static, and yes the snare is a bit overused.

Anyway, I realized that some notes are taken from Deja Vu (the CV3 version of Vampire Killer).

- I can't open this file in FT 0.3.5, among a few others. [url=http://famitracker.shoodot.net/forum/posts.php?id=1123]This one plays fine though.

EDIT: never mind, I downloaded the latest 0.3.5 and it's ok. Go figure.

Crank the tempo up to 170, the song feels a bit too slow at 150.

I'd say 162 is fine to me.
