Woo... This is going to be a lot of work, but I've started to recreate the entire Cave Story soundtrack in VRC6.
I have the following songs done so far:
01 - Access
03 - Migima Town
05 - Balrog's Theme
07 - Cemetery
22 - Quiet
28 - Balcony
29 - Charge!
37 - WHITE (About 20%) (I have no idea what this song is, it's in the game files but it never appears in-game... at least from what I know.)
38 - Game Over
39 - Fanfare 1
40 - Fanfare 2
41 - Fanfare 3
Also, as a bonus, for track #42, I'm trying to recreate all of the sound effects from the game. I currently have 41 sound effects (not including the random blank one I added in anyway).
I'd say the songs are about 95% accurate, the biggest problem is that Pixel did his volume settings by hand (as in clicking it on to the screen), so they aren't exact values or anything.
Ah, I actually noticed both of those. With the DCPM problem, I'm actually not really sure how to fix it. I can probably just keep editing and re-importing the original sounds until they work I guess.
As with "Charge!", I also noticed it's louder than most of the other songs, so I should probably just lower the volume on a few of the tracks I made too loud. I also think Balrog's theme gets a bit drowned out too.
Very nice, although in Balcony, you should probably switch the 2A03's second square with the VRC6's second square. You're using a 50% on the VRC6 which can be achieved on the 2A03 anyway, and the 12.5% you're using on the 2A03 would sound a lot more accurate if you used one of the VRC6's duty modes instead.
Hey are you going to do the unused songs as well? I'd really love to see a cover of Wind Fortress or something.
